Autumn Term's theme- ‘All the World’s A Stage’
This term, Year Five are exploring the theatre. We start the term by learning about Britain’s greatest playwright, William Shakespeare, and his legacy on the English language. We focus our studies around ‘Macbeth’, exploring the settings, motivations and history of the play through many drama and writing opportunities. Later this term, the children will be working with practitioners from The Royal Shakespeare Company as they participate in a workshop in Stratford -Upon -Avon. In addition to learning about Shakespeare in Tudor times, children will find out about Tudor music and be introduced to music notation. Of course, we will also be learning to sing songs from the shows! After half term, we will be looking at theatre throughout the ages, focussing on Greek, Roman and Victorian theatre.
Homework: Homework is given out on a Friday and brought back in to school the following Thursday. Children are given English, Maths and spelling homework. It is suggested that children spend 30 minutes on each piece. P.E days: Friday and Tuesday. It is suggested that children keep P.E kit in school from Monday to Friday.
